The use of a less-ambitious and simpler Page description language allowed HP to deliver its LaserJet to the market about a year before Apple's CX based product, and for $1000 less. HP chose to use their in-house developed Printer Command Language (PCL) as opposed to Apple, which adopted the PostScript language, as developed by Adobe Systems. The first HP LaserJet and the first Apple LaserWriter used the same print engine, the Canon CX engine. In spring of 1989 The New York Times said that HP "dominates" the PC laser printer market. Due to a very tight turnaround schedule on the first HP LaserJet, HP elected to use the controller already developed by Canon for the CX engine in the first HP LaserJet. Most HP LaserJet printers employ xerographic laser-marking engines sourced from the Japanese company Canon. The name Sierra comes from one of the world’s largest mountain ranges in Spain. Fortunately, it is possible to re-enable your Mac's native volume controls and use them to adjust the sound level coming out of your monitor's speakers. This can be frustrating if the volume controls on your external display are concealed in the bezel or buried in a fiddly on-screen menu. That's because HDMI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt connections carry a fixed volume digital audio signal, so the external device (in this case, a monitor) controls the sound level. If you connect your Mac to an external display, you may find that the Mac's on-screen and keyboard volume controls are disabled. The menu system in the Digitone got me frustrated quite a number of times, so until now I’ve been programming it with Overbridge plugin…ĭue to the slightly different programming possibilities Operator still seems relevant though, and I think it will be a great supplement to the Digitone. I agree that it does seems a bit more limited programming wise, but the better sonic detail makes up for it. I would also say that it cuts through the mix better than Operator. IMO the basic sound has more “meat” to it and I get more impact from transient rich sounds for example. So to answer my own question, if others are interested in the difference:I got Digitone some days ago. For you that have first hand experience with both - how do you like programming the Digitone VS Operator for sounddesign ? But still it’s great to have the original source as great sounding as possible. I’m often running Operator through Shallow Water+Chase Bliss Mood with great results at the moment.
